Kokcha News Agency: A scandal has erupted in Iran after President Masoud Pezeshkian’s convoy was reportedly sold gasoline mixed with water, causing the vehicles to break down on the way to Tabriz.
According to the Iranian Labor News Agency (ILNA), Mustafa Mevlavi, the president’s special inspector, provided details about the incident. Mevlavi explained that the president and his accompanying vehicles were stranded after refueling at a station along the route from Tehran to Tabriz. The gasoline sold to the convoy was found to be mixed with water, rendering the vehicles inoperable.
Mevlavi stated that Pezeshkian and his security team were forced to complete the rest of their journey by taxi. The president did not contact local officials about the incident, but subsequent investigations revealed that the gas station in question had previously been reported for selling adulterated fuel.
While the exact date of the incident was not specified, it is believed to have occurred last week.
The incident highlights ongoing issues with fuel quality and regulation in Iran, even at the highest levels of government.
