Felix Baumgartner, the Austrian skydiver who famously broke the sound barrier during a record-breaking space jump in 2012, has died in a paragliding accident in Italy at the age of 56.

Kokcha News Agency: Felix Baumgartner, the Austrian daredevil who gained worldwide fame for his record-breaking space jump in 2012, has tragically died in a paragliding accident in Italy. Baumgartner, 56, was paragliding near Porto Sant’Elpidio on the Adriatic coast when the accident occurred.
According to initial reports, Baumgartner lost control of his paraglider and crashed into a swimming pool at a campsite, injuring a woman who was hit by the impact. Italian media reports suggest that Baumgartner may have suffered a heart attack while in the air.
Just before the accident, Baumgartner had shared a photo on social media with the caption, “Too much wind,” hinting at the challenging conditions he faced during the flight.
Felix Baumgartner’s Legacy:
Known as “Fearless Felix,” Baumgartner made history in 2012 when he jumped from a helium balloon in the stratosphere, approximately 39 kilometers above Earth. During his descent, he became the first human to break the sound barrier, reaching a speed of 1,342 km/h (834 mph).
Baumgartner’s historic jump set three world records: the highest manned balloon flight, the highest freefall, and the first human to break the sound barrier without a vehicle.
