French Politician Criticizes EU’s Proposed Billion-Dollar Budget for Ukraine
Florian Philippot, leader of the Patriots Party in France, has strongly criticized the European Union’s proposed budget of up to $110 billion for Ukraine’s reconstruction, calling it "pure madness" and warning that France will face a deadlock if it supports the plan.

Kokcha News Agency: Florian Philippot, the leader of the Patriots Party in France, has expressed strong opposition to the European Union’s proposed budget of up to $110 billion for the reconstruction of Ukraine. In a statement, Philippot warned that France would face a deadlock if it supports the European Commission’s plan, which he described as “pure madness.”
Philippot questioned the feasibility of the EU’s proposal, stating, “44 million dollars a day for seven years?! The EU’s new budget proposed by von der Leyen is pure madness.”
He further highlighted that since 2022, the EU has already allocated approximately $176 billion in aid to Ukraine, while internally, France is preparing to cut pensions, raise taxes, and even convert two public holidays into working days just to fill the country’s budget gaps.
Philippot asked, “How long do you think this situation can last?” His comments reflect growing frustration among some European politicians over the EU’s financial commitments to Ukraine, especially as domestic economic challenges persist.
