Epstein: The Black Hole Swallowing Trump’s Alliance with His Supporters
The Jeffrey Epstein case has become a political black hole in the U.S., threatening to unravel the alliance between Donald Trump and his MAGA supporters, as Steve Bannon warns that Epstein’s case is not just about criminality but systemic corruption.

Kokcha News Agency: The Jeffrey Epstein case has emerged as a political black hole in the U.S., creating a rift between Donald Trump and his MAGA supporters. Last Saturday (July 12), Trump’s call for his supporters to “move on” from the Epstein case in a Truth Social post seemed to pour cold water on the fervent base of the “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) movement.
The MAGA movement, which has been Trump’s most loyal and cohesive support base over the past eight years, appears to be shaken by the Epstein case, which has become a massive political and social black hole in the U.S. Trump’s supporters, who have rallied behind his slogans like “America First” and “drain the swamp,” are now witnessing the Department of Justice and FBI under his administration seemingly covering up a case that was a major focus during the Biden presidency.
According to NBC News, at one of the largest gatherings of Trump supporters in Tampa, Florida, last Saturday, the Epstein case dominated the conversation. The event, organized by the conservative group Turning Point USA, saw nearly every discussion revolve around the Epstein files.
Brandon Tatum, a podcast host, told the audience at the Tampa Convention Center:
“I think these people—and I don’t know, maybe they have their reasons—but I think they’re not being honest with us about Epstein. I think that man was involved in something deep that implicates a lot of people. And my guess is that many of these people might be our allies or people we don’t want to ruin our relationship with.”
Trump surprised his base with a lengthy post on Truth Social, downplaying the importance of the Epstein case, which has been a major focus of the right-wing for weeks, if not longer. He wrote:
“The Epstein story has been going on for years… Why should we promote files written by Obama, the corrupt Hillary Clinton, Comey, Brennan, and the criminals and losers of the Biden administration?”
Trump’s supporters have stood by him through numerous scandals and policy shifts, but the Epstein case has challenged this alliance like never before.
This week, the Department of Justice announced that no further documents related to Jeffrey Epstein, the late financier accused of sex crimes, would be released. Epstein died in prison in 2019, with the official cause of death ruled as suicide. He faced charges of sex trafficking and conspiracy. However, reports and lawsuits suggest that Epstein, a Jewish financier, was at the center of a vast child sex trafficking network involving powerful and influential figures from politics, business, and entertainment.
Attorney General Pam Bondi released a controversial two-page memo, stating that the DOJ’s investigation found no “client list” of powerful individuals allegedly involved in Epstein’s schemes and no “credible evidence of Epstein blackmailing prominent figures.”
This memo angered Trump’s supporters, who quickly turned against Bondi—a sentiment that was evident at the Turning Point USA event.
Steve Bannon, a staunch Trump ally, warned that the Epstein case is not just about criminality but systemic corruption. He said:
“Epstein is the key that unlocks many things—not just individuals, but institutions, intelligence agencies, foreign governments, and those in our intelligence and government who collaborated with him.”Bannon called for the Trump administration to appoint a special prosecutor to handle the Epstein case.
