Gulf Countries to Introduce Unified Visa System by End of 2025 or Early 2026

Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) are preparing to launch a unified visa system by the end of 2025 or early 2026, allowing travelers to visit all six Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries with a single visa.

Kokcha News Agency: The six Gulf countries are set to introduce a unified visa system, similar to the Schengen visa in Europe, which will simplify travel across the region. Known as the “Unified Tourist Visa” or “Unified GCC Visa,” this initiative aims to boost tourism by making it easier for travelers to explore multiple countries in a single trip.

The GCC Grand Tours Visa was approved in 2023, and once implemented, it will allow visitors to enter Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE with just one visa. This marks a significant shift from the current system, where travelers must apply for separate visas for each country they wish to visit.

When Will It Start?
The Unified Tourist Visa is expected to launch by the end of 2025 or early 2026. The new system will enable non-GCC citizens to apply for a visa for one or multiple countries through a single online portal, reducing the administrative burden on travelers.

Eligibility and Duration
The visa will be available for tourism, short-term stays, or visits to family and friends. It will not cover work or long-term visits. While the exact duration of the visa has not been finalized, it is expected to be valid for 30 to 90 days. The cost of the visa has also not been disclosed, but officials suggest it will be a cost-effective alternative to applying for multiple individual visas.

How to Apply
The application process will be entirely online, with travelers required to provide personal details, travel plans, and itinerary information, including travel dates and transportation details between countries. Applicants will also need to upload supporting documents, such as a valid passport, biometric photo, proof of residence, travel insurance, financial proof, and confirmed return tickets.

Once approved, the visa will be sent to applicants via email, and travelers will be required to carry a copy of the visa during their trip.
