Germany Suspends Voluntary Humanitarian Visa Programs for Refugees

The German Interior Ministry has suspended its voluntary humanitarian visa programs for refugees, as part of broader changes to the country’s migration policy under the new conservative-led government. The decision was announced on Thursday via the ministry’s official website.

The suspended programs included initiatives that granted safe passage visas to individuals at risk, such as dissidents in Russia or Syrian refugees in Turkey. According to a spokesperson from the Interior Ministry, the process has been completely halted and will soon be permanently terminated in line with the ruling coalition’s agreement.

This move reflects the government’s stricter approach to immigration, which has been a contentious issue in German politics.
