Wildfires Rage in Turkey and Greece as Firefighters Battle Blazes
As firefighters in Turkey continue to battle forest fires in Bursa, Karabük, Uşak, and Kahramanmaraş, Greece is also grappling with widespread wildfires that have engulfed multiple regions.

While Turkey struggles with forest fires in Bursa, Karabük, Uşak, and Kahramanmaraş, Greece is facing a similar crisis as wildfires spread across several areas. According to Greek media, firefighting teams have been battling the flames since yesterday.
Early this morning, fires were reported to be raging in Pissonas, Evia, Kythira, Messinia, Hania, Ptolemaida, and Kryoneri near Athens. Authorities have warned that 11 regions are at very high risk due to high temperatures and strong winds.
Vasilis Vathrakogiannis, spokesperson for the Greek fire department, stated in an emergency press briefing that the situation has improved in most areas after a night-long battle by firefighters.
In Molai, Laconia, scattered fire spots were extinguished with the help of a helicopter. In Messapia, Evia, efforts are ongoing to extinguish scattered fires southeast of Pissona, with four planes and two helicopters deployed for aerial firefighting.
In Kythira, 67 firefighters, two forest commando teams, 22 vehicles, and volunteers are actively fighting the blaze, supported by three helicopters and two planes.
In Politea, Messinia, 100 firefighters, five forest commando teams, 30 vehicles, volunteers, water tankers, and machinery are working to contain the fire, with seven planes and one helicopter deployed for aerial support.
