US President Donald Trump Avoids Using “Genocide” for Gaza Famine, Calls Situation “Horrific”
US President Donald Trump refrained from using the term "genocide" to describe the famine in Gaza caused by Israel, instead calling the situation "horrific" and emphasizing US financial aid.
Kokcha News Agency: During a signing ceremony at the White House, US President Donald Trump addressed questions about the famine crisis in Gaza. When asked about Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene’s statement that “there is genocide in Gaza,” Trump avoided using the term “genocide” and instead described the situation as “horrific.”
Trump stated, “People are very hungry in Gaza, what’s happening is horrific. As the US, we’ve provided $60 million. I just wanted people to be fed, and we’re helping financially in this situation. It’s a terrible situation.”
The US President emphasized that the financial and food aid sent to Gaza is being monitored by Israel. However, he expressed frustration that the aid is not visibly reaching those in need on the ground.
Trump also announced that US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, who is currently in Israel and Gaza, will next travel to Moscow as part of ongoing diplomatic efforts in the region.
