Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Plant Facilities Struck in Ukraine

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has reported that one of the support facilities at Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant has been hit.

Kokcha News Agency: The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has confirmed that a support facility at Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant was struck. According to the IAEA, the plant’s team informed the agency that the facility had been targeted by artillery fire and drones starting at 9:00 AM local time. IAEA personnel in the area also reported hearing military activity around the same time.

The agency noted that smoke was seen rising from a facility located approximately 1,200 meters from the nuclear plant.

IAEA Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi stated, “Any attack near a nuclear power plant, regardless of its target, poses potential risks to nuclear safety and must be prevented. I once again call for maximum restraint from military forces near nuclear facilities to prevent the ongoing risk of nuclear accidents.”
