Kokcha News Agency reports that police in Berlin, Germany, cracked down on a pro-Palestine demonstration, detaining multiple protesters.
The rally, held near Breitscheid Square on Kurfürstendamm Street, aimed to protest Israel’s actions in Gaza and draw attention to the hunger crisis exacerbated by Israel’s blockade of humanitarian aid.
Hundreds of demonstrators chanted anti-Israel slogans and banged pots and pans with spoons to symbolize the starvation faced by Palestinians in Gaza due to the blockade. The protest continued for some time before police declared the gathering over and ordered the crowd to disperse.
However, many protesters refused to leave, continuing to chant slogans and sit in the streets. Police then intervened forcefully, breaking up the demonstration and detaining several individuals.
In a separate protest at Wittenberg Square in Berlin, demonstrators also used pots and pans to draw attention to the hunger crisis in Gaza. Protesters carried signs reading “Stop the genocide in Gaza,” “Let food into Gaza now,” and “End hunger in Gaza, let bread in.” Chants of “Terrorist Israel,” “Child-killer Israel,” and “Freedom for Gaza” echoed through the square.
At least four protesters were detained during this demonstration as well.
