Boeing Defense Workers Go on Strike After Rejecting Contract Offer

Approximately 3,200 workers at Boeing’s defense technology facilities in Missouri and Illinois have gone on strike after rejecting the company’s latest contract offer, marking the first strike by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) since 1996.

Kokcha News Agency – In a significant labor dispute, around 3,200 workers at Boeing’s defense technology facilities in Missouri and Illinois have decided to go on strike after rejecting the company’s latest contract offer.

The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) announced that the union members voted against the proposed contract, citing demands for a “fair” agreement.

Critical Role in National Security:
The striking workers are responsible for the assembly and maintenance of advanced fighter jets such as the F-15 and F/A-18, as well as modern missile and defense systems. The IAM emphasized that their work is vital to supporting the national security and defense operations of the United States and its allies.

Boeing’s Offer:
Boeing had proposed a 20% wage increase as part of the new contract, but the workers deemed the offer insufficient, leading to the decision to strike. This marks the first strike by the IAM since 1996, highlighting the severity of the labor dispute.
