Israeli Chief of Staff Clashes with Netanyahu Over Gaza Occupation Plan
Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir reportedly engaged in a heated argument with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over plans to fully occupy the Gaza Strip, accusing Netanyahu of “dragging the country into a trap.”

Kokcha News Agency – Tensions within the Israeli government have escalated as Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir clashed with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over plans to fully occupy the Gaza Strip, which is currently under siege and facing ongoing violence.
According to reports from Israeli state television KAN, Zamir accused Netanyahu of “dragging the country into a trap” with the proposed occupation plan during a high-level meeting. The confrontation reportedly became heated, with Zamir questioning why he was being targeted by accusations of leading a “coup attempt” from Netanyahu’s son, Yair Netanyahu, while the military was in the midst of operations in Gaza.
Zamir also reacted strongly to a message from Netanyahu that was leaked to the press, in which the Prime Minister suggested that Zamir should resign if he did not agree with the occupation plan.
Netanyahu, in response, reportedly told Zamir, “Don’t threaten to resign in front of the press. I don’t accept constant resignation threats just because you don’t agree with our plans. My son is 33 years old, a grown man.”
The Prime Minister also addressed Zamir’s criticism that he was “dragging the country into a trap” by stating that he would propose improvements to the plan before presenting it to the cabinet. Sources indicate that Zamir was visibly angered at times during the discussion.
