According to a statement from the Kremlin, Putin and Witkoff held discussions on the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, with the U.S. envoy emphasizing the urgency of reaching a resolution. Trump had previously given Russia until Friday to either agree to end the war or face additional sanctions from the United States.
Trump’s Ultimatum:
Last week, Trump announced that he would impose a 25% tariff on Russian imports if the country did not agree to end its military operations in Ukraine. He warned that the tariffs could increase significantly if Russia continued to resist.
