U.S. Welcomes Lebanese Government’s Decision to Centralize Armed Forces Under State Control
The U.S. State Department has expressed its approval of the Lebanese government’s decision to bring all armed groups under state control and to collect weapons held by non-state actors.

Kokcha News Agency: The U.S. State Department has welcomed the Lebanese government’s decision to centralize all armed forces under state control and to collect weapons held by various groups. Deputy Spokesperson Tommy Pigott called for the immediate implementation of this decision, stating that the U.S. is closely monitoring developments in Lebanon.
In a statement to journalists, Pigott said, “The U.S. welcomes the Lebanese government’s decision,” emphasizing that this move is “a significant step for Lebanon’s sovereignty.” He urged the Lebanese Armed Forces to take immediate action to fully enforce the government’s decision.
Earlier this week, the Lebanese Cabinet convened and approved a decision to bring all armed entities, including Hezbollah, under state control and to collect weapons held by non-state groups. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun announced that the army has been tasked with preparing a plan to collect these weapons by the end of the year.
