Former Google Executive Mo Gawdat Predicts a 12-15 Year Dystopian Era Starting in Two Years
Mo Gawdat, a former Google executive, has warned that the world is on the brink of a 12-15 year dystopian era, driven not by artificial intelligence (AI) but by human actions, with a potential utopia to follow.

Kokcha News Agency – Mo Gawdat, a former Google executive and author, has painted a bleak picture of the near future, predicting that the world will enter a dystopian era in just two years. Speaking on his podcast “The CEO Diary,” Gawdat warned that this period, reminiscent of George Orwell’s “1984,” will last for 12-15 years and will be primarily driven by human behavior rather than AI.
Gawdat emphasized that the dystopia will fundamentally alter key concepts such as freedom, human relationships, inequality, and reality. “We need to prepare for a very strange world,” he said, suggesting that malicious actors will misuse AI to deceive citizens, invade their privacy, and manipulate them. This, he argued, will lead to the concentration of power in the hands of a few corrupt individuals.
Despite the grim outlook, Gawdat also expressed hope that after this challenging period, humanity could reach a new “utopia.” He pointed out that AI will eventually take over many jobs, including high-level roles like CEOs, and will perform tasks more efficiently and at lower costs. For example, AI could design custom homes at a fraction of the cost currently charged by architects.
