Giant Animal Puppets Embark on a 20,000-Kilometer Journey to Raise Awareness About Climate Change

Kokcha News Agency: In an effort to raise awareness about climate change, environmentalists have initiated a unique project featuring life-sized animal puppets that will travel 20,000 kilometers. The journey, organized by the art initiative “The Herds,” aims to increase climate consciousness through a symbolic and artistic representation of the impact of climate change on wildlife.

The project began in April in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, where the first set of animal puppets, including gorillas, elephants, and lions, were crafted using recycled materials such as cardboard and plywood. As the puppets made their way through 25 cities, including Madrid and London, the number of puppets grew from 15 to 65, with new additions like deer and wolves as they moved further north.

The journey culminated in Norway, where the puppets visited Jostedalsbreen, Europe’s largest glacier, and the North Cape. Along the way, the project not only highlighted the effects of climate change but also served as a call to action for communities to adapt and rethink their relationship with the environment.

Amir Zuabi, the project’s artistic director, described the four-month journey as “a moment of mourning for what we’ve lost, but also an invitation to think differently and adapt.”
