Vance Reaffirms Opposition to Recognizing Palestinian State Ahead of Meeting with UK

US Vice President JD Vance has reiterated the United States’ opposition to recognizing a Palestinian state, even as the UK moves forward with its decision to recognize Palestinian statehood.

Kokcha News Agency: In a significant diplomatic stance, US Vice President JD Vance has reaffirmed the United States’ opposition to recognizing a Palestinian state. This announcement comes ahead of his meeting with UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy, who recently confirmed the UK’s decision to recognize Palestinian statehood.

The UK’s move marks a shift in its foreign policy, aligning with a growing number of countries that support Palestinian statehood as a path to peace in the Middle East. However, the US remains steadfast in its position, maintaining that any recognition of Palestinian statehood must come as part of a negotiated settlement between Israel and the Palestinians.

Meanwhile, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza continues to worsen. Amira Antiz, a Gazan mother, has expressed her fears for the life of her 5-month-old infant, who is suffering from severe malnutrition due to the Israeli-imposed famine and blockade. “His body has turned to skin and bones, just a skeleton,” she said, highlighting the dire conditions faced by thousands of families in Gaza.

Israel’s ongoing war on the Gaza Strip has resulted in the deaths of over 61,200 people, according to reports, leaving the enclave in a state of devastation. The international community has repeatedly called for an end to the violence and for urgent humanitarian aid to be allowed into Gaza.

In a separate development, a US federal judge in Maryland has blocked the Trump administration from denying citizenship to children born in the US to parents without legal status or on temporary visas. This ruling underscores the ongoing legal battles over immigration policies in the United States.

As the US and UK prepare to discuss their differing approaches to Palestinian statehood, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza remains a pressing issue that demands immediate international attention and action.
