Iran’s Justice Minister Warns of Legal Consequences for Mistreatment of Afghan Migrants

Iran’s Justice Minister, Hossein Rahimi, has warned officials that mistreatment of Afghan migrants during the deportation process could lead to legal consequences, emphasizing that the return of migrants must be carried out with respect and dignity.

Kokcha News: Iran’s Justice Minister, Hossein Rahimi, has issued a warning to officials that any inappropriate behavior toward Afghan migrants during their deportation process could result in legal action. On Sunday, August 19, Rahimi stressed that the return of Afghan migrants must be conducted with the utmost respect and dignity.

Rahimi, who visited the deportation process at the Dogharoun border crossing during his trip to Taybad, emphasized the need to deport illegal migrants while ensuring their rights are protected. He stated that no country accepts unauthorized entry and that migrants must enter Iran in compliance with the law.

The Iranian official noted that, with the cooperation of relevant authorities at the Dogharoun crossing, the identification and deportation of migrants without residence permits is completed in less than two hours.

In recent months, there have been numerous reports of violence by Iranian police against Afghan migrants and discriminatory behavior by some Iranian citizens. These incidents have raised concerns about the treatment of Afghan migrants, who make up a significant portion of Iran’s migrant population.

Rahimi’s remarks come amid growing international scrutiny over Iran’s handling of Afghan migrants, particularly as the deportation process has intensified. The minister’s call for respectful treatment and adherence to legal standards highlights the need to address these concerns and ensure the rights of migrants are upheld.
