New AI Model Maps Every 10 Meters of Earth with High Precision

Google has unveiled a new AI model called "Alpha Earth," capable of generating highly detailed, near real-time maps of any location on Earth by combining trillions of images and data from various sources, including satellite imagery, radar scans, 3D mapping, and climate simulations.

Kokcha News Agency: Google has introduced a groundbreaking AI model, “Alpha Earth,” which can create highly precise, near real-time maps of any point on Earth. This technology integrates trillions of images and data from diverse sources, such as satellite imagery, radar scans, 3D mapping, and climate simulations, to provide comprehensive coverage of all landmasses and coastal waters worldwide.

The primary goal of this system is to assist scientists in monitoring environmental changes and gaining a deeper understanding of climate dynamics. Unlike similar models, Alpha Earth requires significantly less storage space and enables large-scale analysis.

The model can deliver detailed information for areas as small as 10 square meters with high accuracy and update the data almost in real time. This capability allows researchers to quickly identify environmental changes and investigate their causes, which is crucial for combating climate change, protecting biodiversity, and managing water resources and agricultural lands.

A similar application of this technology was seen in 2020 when scientists from NASA and the University of Copenhagen used AI to identify 1.8 billion trees in West Africa.
