Macron: Pressure on Russia Must Continue Until War Ends

“Kokcha News Agency” – French President Emmanuel Macron emphasized the need to maintain pressure on Russia until the Russia-Ukraine war ends and a lasting peace is secured.

In a post on the social media platform of US-based company X, Macron noted that following the meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska, he held a coordination meeting with European partners, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and the US leader.

Macron stated that he continued discussions with his European counterparts after the meeting, saying:

“We are in agreement on this point: As long as Russia’s war of aggression continues and a solid and lasting peace that respects Ukraine’s rights is not achieved, it is essential to continue supporting Ukraine and maintaining pressure on Russia. Any lasting peace must come with unwavering security guarantees.”

Macron welcomed the US’s willingness to contribute to the process and highlighted that they are working with US partners and the Coalition of the Willing to make concrete progress, with plans to meet again soon.

He added, “It will also be vital to draw all necessary lessons from the past 30 years, particularly Russia’s entrenched tendency to disregard its commitments.” Macron stressed that France will continue to work closely with Trump and Zelenskyy to protect its interests and act responsibly.

The French president reaffirmed that France will continue to stand by Ukraine.
