Gazza Woman Dies Within 24 Hours of Being Flown to Italy for Treatment
Marah Abu Zuhri, a young woman from Gaza who was evacuated to Italy for medical treatment due to severe malnutrition, passed away less than 24 hours after arriving, highlighting the dire humanitarian crisis in Gaza under Israel's blockade.
Kokcha News Agency – Marah Abu Zuhri, a 20-year-old woman from Gaza, died less than 24 hours after being evacuated to Italy for treatment. Zuhri, who was suffering from severe malnutrition due to Israel’s blockade and attacks, was part of an Italian humanitarian operation and was flown to Pisa on August 13.
According to Italian news agency ANSA, Zuhri was immediately taken to a hospital upon arrival. Hospital officials reported that she experienced respiratory difficulties during treatment and her heart stopped shortly after. The young woman, who was in critical condition due to acute malnutrition, could not be saved despite the medical efforts.
Gaza, under Israel’s strict blockade and ongoing military attacks, is facing a catastrophic humanitarian crisis. The region is grappling with widespread hunger, lack of clean water, medical supplies, and hygiene materials. Deaths from starvation and malnutrition are on the rise, particularly among children.
Local and international organizations have accused Israel of using “hunger and thirst as weapons.” The death toll from starvation and malnutrition in Gaza has now reached 251, including 108 children.
