Hong Kong to Deploy Robot Dogs in Fight Against Chikungunya Virus

Kokcha News Agency – Hong Kong’s Secretary for Environment and Ecology, Tse Chin-wan, announced that the city will deploy robot dogs to spray insecticides in areas difficult for control teams to access, such as steep slopes. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to tackle the rising number of chikungunya cases.

Starting next month, the government will conduct a trial using robot dogs to spray insecticides in challenging terrains. Tse stated, “We aim to reduce the burden on workers who are battling the virus in hot weather. If the trial is successful, we will purchase more robot dogs. The government will continue to explore new methods for mosquito control.”

According to official data, more than 240,000 chikungunya cases and 90 deaths have been reported across 16 countries this year. In China’s southern Guangdong province, nearly 8,000 cases have been detected.ZG2bnbqC9UW2fZ8-Iq5OVg Hong Kong to Deploy Robot Dogs in Fight Against Chikungunya Virus
