Russia Claims Downing 300 Ukrainian Drones as Peace Talks in Donetsk Continue

Russia’s Defense Ministry announced on Sunday that it has downed 300 Ukrainian drones amid ongoing military advances in the Donetsk region, while peace talks in the area continue.

Kokcha News Agency – Russia’s Defense Ministry has reported the downing of 300 Ukrainian drones as part of its military operations in the Donetsk region.

According to the ministry, Russian airstrikes and missile attacks targeted Ukrainian missile storage sites, resulting in the destruction of four guided aerial bombs and 300 drones by air defense systems.

These strikes come as sources told *Reuters* that, under a peace plan discussed between Russian President Vladimir Putin and former U.S. President Donald Trump during their Alaska summit, Russia is prepared to cede small parts of occupied Ukrainian territory. In return, Kyiv would have to relinquish parts of its eastern territories to Russia.

Under the proposed plan, Ukraine would withdraw from parts of Donetsk and Luhansk, while Russia would halt its frontlines in Kherson and Zaporizhzhia.

However, Ukraine has rejected any territorial concessions, particularly in Donetsk. Russia has also expressed willingness to return small areas in the north and northeast of Kharkiv.

Meanwhile, Putin is seeking international recognition of Russia’s sovereignty over Crimea and a potential reduction in certain sanctions.

It remains unclear whether this would include U.S. sanctions or only those imposed by Europe. Kyiv and its European allies have strongly opposed any formal recognition of Russian control over the Crimean Peninsula
