NATO Military Leadership to Meet: Ukraine Security Guarantees on the Agenda
NATO’s military leaders will convene on Wednesday to discuss security guarantees for Ukraine, as the U.S. and European capitals work to finalize details of potential support for Kyiv.
Kokcha News Agency: NATO’s military leadership is set to hold a video conference on Wednesday to address the issue of security guarantees for Ukraine. The meeting comes as Washington and European capitals are in the process of determining the specifics of the support they can offer to Kyiv.
U.S. President Donald Trump, following his recent meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Alaska summit, reiterated that U.S. troops will not be sent to Ukraine but hinted at the possibility of providing air support. General Alexus Grynkewich, responsible for NATO operations in Europe, will brief defense chiefs on the outcomes of this meeting.
Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, Chairman of NATO’s Military Committee, confirmed that the meeting will be held via video conference. Meanwhile, the UK government announced that planning teams will soon meet with their U.S. counterparts to work on security guarantees under the so-called “Volunteers Coalition.”
In an interview with Fox News, Trump suggested that Europe could provide ground forces, while the U.S. could assist, particularly with air support. Experts believe this support could range from air defense systems to the establishment of a no-fly zone. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, after discussions with Trump and European leaders, indicated that the security guarantees for Kyiv are likely to take shape within the next 10 days.
