Kokcha News Agency – Jade Damarell, a 32-year-old skydiver from Caerphilly, Wales, tragically ended her life by deliberately not deploying her parachute during a jump from 4,600 meters.
The investigation concluded her death as suicide, with evidence showing she had turned off the automatic activation device (AAD) and chose not to open her main parachute at the required altitude of 5,000 feet.
Damarell, who had completed over 500 jumps, had even made six successful jumps the day before her death.
Police reports revealed that Damarell left instructions on her phone’s lock screen for accessing it after her death. Her phone contained notes addressed to her family, expressing apologies, gratitude, and sharing financial details.
Her family, in a statement, accepted the suicide ruling and thanked the skydiving community for their support. They described Jade as “bright, beautiful, brave, and extraordinary” and vowed to speak openly and without shame about her death.
