Shia Scholars File Official Complaint, Demand End to Kuchi Encroachments

Kokcha News Agency – In response to the increasing tensions between Kuchi nomads and local residents in central Afghanistan, the Shia Scholars’ Council has formally lodged a complaint with the Taliban’s administration. During a meeting with Noorul Haq Anwar, head of the administration, representatives of the Shia community reported armed incursions by Kuchi nomads into villages, destruction of agricultural lands, and security pressures. They called for the implementation of decisions made by the Central Commission on Kuchi and Settlers.

The representatives warned that the continuation of this situation could lead to broader conflicts.

Members of the Scholars’ Council also raised concerns about the relocation of personnel and equipment from the Ali Jinnah Hospital in western Kabul, stating that this move would deprive over two million citizens of healthcare services.

Additionally, they emphasized the need for the construction of mosques, compensation for damages caused by the destruction of homes, and the initiation of development projects.

Despite promises of cooperation from Taliban officials, the Shia scholars reminded them that similar commitments have been made repeatedly over the past four years, yet none of the demands of the Shia community have been fulfilled.
