At Least Six Stabbed Near Berlin’s Alexanderplatz, One in Critical Condition

At least six people were injured in a knife attack near Alexanderplatz in central Berlin on the night of Saturday, August 24, 2025, with one victim in critical condition. Authorities are investigating the motive, which remains unclear.

Kokcha News Agency: A knife attack near Berlin’s Alexanderplatz on the night of August 24, 2025, left at least six people injured, one of whom is in critical condition. According to local media outlet B.Z. Berlin, all victims are Afghan nationals, though police have not officially confirmed their identities.

The Berlin Police reported that the victims, aged between 20 and 26, sustained stab wounds to their hands, legs, pelvis, and chest. All were rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment. Authorities believe more individuals may have been involved in the altercation, but they fled the scene before police arrived.

A thorough search of the area failed to recover any knives or weapons, suggesting the attackers may have used concealed or disposable blades. The lack of recovered weapons poses challenges for the ongoing investigation, as it limits the availability of forensic evidence.

In the aftermath of the attack, police briefly detained a 14-year-old girl and two young men, aged 19 and 20. They were later released, with officials confirming they were witnesses rather than participants. The girl was placed under the care of emergency child services.

The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and authorities are continuing their investigation. Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward to assist in the case.

This stabbing has raised concerns about youth violence and public safety in Berlin. While the reasons for the altercation are still unknown, the involvement of young Afghan nationals highlights ongoing challenges related to integration and social cohesion within immigrant communities.

Authorities have pledged to pursue the case diligently and ensure justice for the victims. The incident underscores the importance of community engagement and preventive measures to address underlying social tensions that can lead to such violent outbreaks.
