Iran’s Foreign Minister: No Direct Talks with the U.S.

Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister, Seyed Abbas Araghchi, stated that Tehran is ready for fair and just negotiations on its nuclear program but ruled out direct talks with the United States.

Kokcha News Agency: In an interview with Al-Sharq Al-Awsat, Seyed Abbas Araghchi reiterated Iran’s readiness to engage in equitable negotiations regarding its nuclear program.

He highlighted ongoing talks with three European countries and discussions with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to establish a new framework for cooperation.

Araghchi also expressed Iran’s willingness to engage in indirect talks with the U.S., but emphasized that Washington must provide assurances that it will not launch military attacks during negotiations, as it did in the past.

Regarding relations with Egypt, Araghchi noted that Iran and Egypt interact as normal countries, but there is no rush to formalize diplomatic ties.

He mentioned that the embassies of both countries in Tehran and Cairo are fully operational, though they are currently referred to as “interest protection offices” rather than embassies. The officials in charge of these offices hold the rank of ambassador.
