ASELSAN to Make Major Announcements on Steel Dome Developments

Kokcha News Agency: ASELSAN, Turkey’s leading defense contractor, is set to make major announcements today, with new developments on the Steel Dome (Çelik Kubbe) project expected to be revealed. The company will also deliver 47 units of the Gök Kubbe systems, worth $460 million, to the Turkish Armed Forces.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, during a ceremony at ASELSAN’s Gölbaşı Campus, highlighted the importance of the Oğulbey Technology Base, which will become one of the most advanced defense technology centers in the region. The base will feature 585,000 square meters of indoor space and 132,000 square meters of production area.

ASELSAN’s General Manager, Ahmet Akyol, emphasized the company’s global leadership in critical technologies, including air defense, radar, electronic warfare, communication, smart ammunition, and electro-optics. He stated that these advancements are now being integrated into the Steel Dome architecture.

In a separate development, İsmet Sayhan, former head of the Machinery and Chemical Industry Corporation (MKE), was arrested on charges of “Obtaining State Security Documents by Fraud and Using Them for Purposes Other Than Destruction.” Additionally, Emin Öner, Chairman of the ASSAN Group, and Gürcan Okumuş, General Manager of Assan Defense, were detained on charges of “Membership in an Armed Terrorist Organization” and “Military Espionage.”
