Trump Announces 87% Drop in Car Theft in Washington After Declaring Public Safety Emergency
U.S. President Donald Trump announced an 87% reduction in car theft in Washington, D.C., following the declaration of a "public safety emergency" aimed at curbing crime rates and enhancing security in the capital.

Kokcha News Agency – U.S. President Donald Trump has revealed that car theft in Washington, D.C., has decreased by 87% after he declared a “public safety emergency” to improve security and reduce crime in the capital.
In a social media post, Trump highlighted the measures taken to “enhance safety and prevent crime,” stating that all other crime categories have also seen significant reductions. He further claimed, “Washington D.C. will become a crime-free zone much faster than planned, in just 14 days.”
Since taking office, Trump has frequently criticized the local government of Washington, D.C., for failing to address crime and homelessness.
He has argued that the city should be taken over by the federal government to make it safe, clean, and livable.
On August 11, Trump placed the D.C. police unit under federal control and deployed around 800 National Guard troops to “ensure safety and clear the streets of homeless people.”
