Turkey Calls for Suspension of Israel’s UN Membership

Kokcha News Agency – In an emergency session held on Friday, the Turkish Parliament issued a resolution condemning Israel’s policies of occupation, annexation, and violence against Palestinians, which it described as “clear genocide” in Gaza.

The session, chaired by Numan Kurtulmuş, Speaker of the Turkish Parliament, resulted in a strongly worded resolution that reflects Turkey’s official stance on the issue. Kurtulmuş stated that the resolution is a “very strong document” that demonstrates Turkey’s position to the world.

He added that all parliamentary group leaders and their deputies have signed the resolution, which will be published in the official gazette, giving it the status of a government policy document.

The resolution highlighted that Israel has escalated its decades-long policies of occupation, annexation, and violence into a “clear genocide” in Gaza over the past two years. It emphasized that these actions have led to the deaths of nearly 70,000 people, mostly women and children, and left over 150,000 injured, while also causing widespread destruction of civilian infrastructure.

The Turkish Parliament’s resolution also accused Israel of deliberately driving the people of Gaza into poverty and famine, a claim supported by reports from the United Nations and other international bodies.

The document called for the suspension of Israel’s membership in the United Nations and all international organizations until it halts its genocidal policies in Gaza. It also stressed the need for Israeli officials to be tried in international courts for war crimes and genocide.

Furthermore, the Turkish Parliament expressed its support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders as the only path to achieving a just and lasting peace. It urged parliaments worldwide to sever military and trade relations with Israel, take immediate action to break the siege on the Palestinian people, and strengthen the process of international recognition of the State of Palestine.
