Kokcha News Agency – The Israeli army is systematically destroying entire neighborhoods in Gaza through random bombardments and the use of remote-controlled explosive robots, the Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor reported.
In a written statement, Euro-Med highlighted that Israel has intensified its attacks on the eastern, northern, and southern axes of Gaza since early August, as part of a plan to reoccupy the city. The organization emphasized that Israel is employing “new tools of genocide” to erase residential areas.
The statement noted that under international law, the use of explosive robots is prohibited. These robots are capable of destroying multiple buildings simultaneously and have been deployed in Gaza since May 2024, when they were first used in the Jabalia Refugee Camp in the north.
“These explosive robots are now roaming the streets of Gaza, targeting residential areas and detonating themselves,” the statement read.
Euro-Med also reported that the Israeli army has caused massive destruction in other parts of the city by remotely detonating these robots, targeting homes and residential facilities.
Mahmoud Basal, spokesperson for the Gaza Civil Defense Directorate, stated on August 27 that Israel has been using these robots to destroy buildings and residential facilities in northern and southern neighborhoods following its announcement of plans to reoccupy Gaza.
Basal revealed that over 1,500 buildings have been completely destroyed since the beginning of August.
Israel’s Plan to Reoccupy Gaza
On August 8, the Israeli Security Cabinet approved a plan to reoccupy the city of Gaza in the northern part of the region. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in an interview before the cabinet meeting, stated that the goal is to fully occupy the Gaza Strip.
Israeli media reports indicated that the army has received orders to reoccupy the remaining parts of Gaza, though this step is not expected to be implemented before September.
According to the plan, the first phase involves relocating approximately 1 million Palestinians to the south, besieging the city, and launching intense attacks before occupation. The second phase envisions the occupation of refugee camps in central Gaza, which have already been largely reduced to rubble.
Israel occupied the Gaza Strip from 1967 to 2005, a period of 38 years. Today, the Gaza Strip, home to around 2.3 million Palestinians, has been under a severe blockade for 18 years.
