President Erdoğan Meets Chinese President Xi at SCO Summit in Tianjin, Discusses Bilateral Ties and Global Issues
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan met with Chinese President Xi Jinping during the 25th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in Tianjin, China, where they discussed deepening economic cooperation, regional security, and global challenges, including the Gaza crisis and the Ukraine-Russia war.
Kokcha News Agency – President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a significant meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the 25th Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit in Tianjin, China. The meeting, attended by key Turkish ministers and officials, focused on enhancing bilateral economic ties, particularly in digital technologies, energy, health, and tourism. President Erdoğan emphasized the need for balanced and sustainable trade relations, urging Chinese companies to increase investments in Turkey.
The leaders also discussed the alignment of Turkey’s Middle Corridor Initiative with China’s Belt and Road Initiative, aiming to boost connectivity and trade between the two nations. President Erdoğan reiterated Turkey’s support for the “One China” policy and highlighted the strategic importance of Turkey-China relations.
The meeting also addressed pressing global issues, including the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, the Ukraine-Russia conflict, and the reconstruction of Syria. Both leaders agreed to strengthen cooperation in multilateral forums such as the United Nations, G20, and SCO to promote international equity and justice.
In a separate meeting, President Erdoğan hosted Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, where they discussed bilateral relations, regional security, and cooperation in trade, energy, and defense. Erdoğan expressed solidarity with Pakistan on the Gaza crisis and reaffirmed Turkey’s commitment to Syria’s unity and territorial integrity.
