Kokcha News Agency – President Trump shared a graph prepared by the White House on his Truth Social platform, detailing the arrests made in Washington, D.C., since the declaration of a public safety emergency last month.
According to the graph, a federally managed Task Force arrested 1,669 individuals in three weeks, with 709 of them being undocumented immigrants. The arrests were carried out in collaboration with 22 federal and local law enforcement agencies, involving 3,500 personnel, including 1,871 law enforcement officers and 1,629 National Guard members.
Public Safety Emergency Declared:
On August 11, President Trump declared a “public safety emergency” in Washington, D.C., to “ensure security and reduce crime rates.” As part of this measure, he announced that the Washington police would be placed under federal control and that the National Guard would be deployed to the city.
The U.S. Department of Justice appointed Terry Cole, head of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), as the “Emergency Police Commissioner” for the Metropolitan Police Department.
On August 14, the U.S. Department of Defense (Pentagon) confirmed that 800 National Guard members had been deployed to the capital. Additionally, Republican-led states such as West Virginia, South Carolina, and Ohio decided to send hundreds of National Guard troops to the region under the emergency declaration.
