Nigel Farage Aims to Replicate Trump’s Success with Reform UK
Nigel Farage, leader of Reform UK, is echoing Donald Trump’s strategies to rise to power, promising to cut immigration, crack down on crime, and "make Britain great again."
Kokcha News Agency – Nigel Farage, leader of Reform UK, is leveraging themes similar to those that propelled Donald Trump to the U.S. presidency, aiming to position himself as Britain’s next prime minister. Farage’s hard-right party, which has surged in opinion polls, promises to slash immigration, tackle crime, abandon green energy targets, and revive British industry.
Reform UK, founded in 2018 as the Brexit Party, has gained traction by capitalizing on concerns over immigration and societal breakdown. Despite having only four lawmakers in the House of Commons, the party has led recent polls, outpacing both the governing Labour Party and the opposition Conservatives.
Farage, a veteran politician who played a key role in the UK’s Brexit referendum, has been criticized for stoking anti-immigrant sentiment and spreading misinformation. His policies, including plans to deport unauthorized arrivals and his opposition to net-zero climate goals, have drawn both support and criticism.
Reform UK’s rise has forced other parties to scramble for responses. Prime Minister Keir Starmer has faced backlash for not confronting the party more aggressively, while critics argue that the media has amplified Farage’s message disproportionately.
Farage has also faced scrutiny for past praise of Russian President Vladimir Putin, which could alienate voters in a country largely supportive of Ukraine. Despite these challenges, Farage remains optimistic, suggesting a general election could occur as early as 2027.
