UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has strongly condemned Israel’s assassination attempt on Hamas officials in Qatar, stating that it violates Qatar’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Guterres urged all parties to focus on achieving a lasting ceasefire.

Kokcha News Agency: In a press briefing at the UN headquarters in New York, Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned Israel’s recent assassination attempt on Hamas officials in Qatar, calling it a clear violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Guterres highlighted that Qatar has played a crucial and positive role in mediating ceasefire talks and negotiations for the release of prisoners in Gaza. He emphasized that the attack on Qatar’s soil undermines these efforts and destabilizes the region.
“I condemn this attack, which clearly violates Qatar’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” Guterres stated. He also urged all parties involved to prioritize achieving a lasting ceasefire and to avoid actions that could escalate tensions further.
The Israeli military had earlier confirmed that it carried out an airstrike targeting senior Hamas officials in Doha, Qatar’s capital. The attack has sparked widespread international condemnation and raised concerns about the future of peace negotiations in the region.
