Israel Bombs 3 UNRWA Schools in Gaza, Displacing Thousands

The Israeli military bombed three schools operated by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in Gaza’s Al-Shati Refugee Camp, displacing thousands of people who were sheltering there.

GAZA (Kokcha.News) — The Israeli army targeted three UNRWA schools in the Al-Shati Refugee Camp in western Gaza City, forcing thousands of displaced Palestinians to flee. The schools—Al-Sitt Sura, Al-Aliya, and Shuhaybir—were providing shelter to thousands of people who had fled Israeli bombardment in northern and southern Gaza and refused to evacuate to the south.

Eyewitnesses told Anadolu Agency (AA) that the Israeli military issued warnings via phone calls, informing residents of the impending attack and urging them to evacuate. However, witnesses claimed that the Israeli forces did not provide enough time for people to gather their belongings before launching the strikes.

The displaced Palestinians and local residents reportedly panicked upon receiving the evacuation warnings and attempted to leave the area immediately. However, the Israeli military carried out the attack while evacuations were still ongoing, leaving many people stranded in the streets.

In addition to the school bombings, the Israeli army also targeted a multi-story residential building in the Al-Fayrouz Towers area west of Al-Nasr Neighborhood and a house on Al-Sina’a Street in southern Gaza City.

There was no immediate information on casualties resulting from the Israeli attacks.
