Rising Deportations of Afghan Refugees from Neighboring Countries and Europe

US Offers Migration Deals to Five West African Countries Ahead of Trump’s Meeting with Leaders

KABUL (Kokcha.News) — According to a report by *Global Voices* on Saturday, September 22, Iran, Pakistan, and several European countries have significantly increased the forced deportation of Afghan migrants in recent months. This approach has sparked strong reactions from human rights organizations, which warn of a deepening humanitarian and economic crisis in Afghanistan.

Iran alone has deported over 1.5 million Afghan citizens this year, with projections suggesting this number could rise to nearly 4 million by the end of 2025. In Pakistan, more than 1 million migrants, including women and children, have been forcibly returned to Afghanistan through the Torkham and Spin Boldak border crossings since April.

Meanwhile, Germany and five other European Union countries have tightened asylum laws, resuming the deportation of Afghan refugees. Human rights organizations have warned that the continued forced return of migrants, coupled with rising poverty, hunger, and gender discrimination, could worsen Afghanistan’s humanitarian and economic crisis.

The mass deportation of refugees without considering Afghanistan’s dire conditions risks increasing social instability and illegal migration. In the absence of a coordinated international approach, forced repatriation not only deepens the humanitarian crisis but could also lead to significant security and economic costs for both host and origin countries.
