Senior ISI General Admits Pakistan’s Mistake in Unconditional Support for Taliban

Kokcha News Agency — In a meeting with several anti-Taliban figures, a senior general from Pakistan’s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) acknowledged that Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Taliban and the disruption of Afghanistan’s historical power balance was a significant error.

The general stated, “We know the atmosphere is tense, and you have doubts about our words due to past issues. But the reality is that because of our unconditional support for the Taliban and the disruption of Afghanistan’s historical power balance, we imprisoned former Prime Minister Imran Khan, court-martialed and jailed former ISI chief General Faiz Hameed, and exiled General Qamar Javed Bajwa, the former Chief of Army Staff.”

The general added, “Power was not supposed to be handed over to the Taliban in this manner. It was a folly committed by these three individuals, and this is precisely why Zalmay Khalilzad is upset, because his collaborator in this scheme, Imran Khan, is now in prison. Pakistan spared no effort in creating this situation, which was a mistake.”

He further admitted that this historical blunder has caused immense pain and suffering for the Afghan people and created new problems for Pakistan.

The general urged those present to accept this as a fact. However, participants in the meeting noted that despite the growing tensions between the Taliban and Pakistan, Islamabad still lacks a firm will to support alternative paths for restoring Afghanistan’s dignity and establishing a people’s government. Instead, Pakistan seems to be waiting for a green light from a third party.
