Two More Hospitals in Gaza Out of Service, Medical Facility Destroyed
Amid relentless attacks and blockade by the Israeli military, two more hospitals in Gaza have been rendered non-operational, and a medical facility has been destroyed, further crippling the already devastated healthcare system in the besieged enclave.
Kokcha News Agency – The Gaza Health Ministry has reported that the Israeli military continues to target hospitals and medical centers, leaving two more hospitals out of service and destroying a medical facility. The Rantisi Children’s Hospital and the Eye Hospital in Gaza City have been forced to cease operations due to ongoing Israeli attacks, while the Medical Aid Center has been completely destroyed.
The Rantisi Children’s Hospital, previously targeted by Israeli forces, suffered significant damage and is now unable to function. The Eye Hospital, which was the only facility providing eye care services in the northern Gaza Strip, has also been rendered non-operational.
In a statement, the Health Ministry accused Israel of intentionally and systematically targeting the healthcare system as part of its genocidal campaign in Gaza. “The occupying Israeli forces are deliberately and systematically targeting the health system as part of their genocide in the Gaza Strip,” the statement read.
The ministry also highlighted the lack of safe routes for patients and the injured to reach hospitals and medical facilities. Due to the ongoing attacks, patients are facing immense difficulties in accessing care at the Al-Quds Hospital and the Jordanian Field Hospital.
The Health Ministry reiterated its call to the international community to provide protection for medical facilities, staff, and patients in Gaza.
On September 17, the Israeli military targeted the upper floors of the Rantisi Children’s Hospital, which was the only specialized hospital in Gaza, providing critical services in oncology, dialysis, respiratory, and digestive diseases.
The Israeli military continues its intense bombardment of various areas in the Gaza Strip, targeting buildings and homes in an attempt to make Gaza City uninhabitable and displace civilians.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel’s attacks on Gaza have resulted in the deaths of at least 65,344 Palestinians, with 166,795 others injured.
