Kokcha News Agency – German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt has revealed that Germany will begin direct negotiations with the Taliban to facilitate the return of Afghan citizens who have criminal records or pose a security threat to Germany. According to Anadolu Agency, senior German officials are planning to travel to Kabul next month to discuss this matter with Taliban authorities.
Dobrindt stated that the goal of the talks is to ensure the regular and consistent deportation of criminals and migrants who are considered a threat to Germany.
So far, discussions have only taken place at a technical level with Taliban representatives, and this upcoming visit could mark a turning point in Germany’s relationship with the Taliban.
Since the Taliban’s return to power in Afghanistan, Germany has not established formal diplomatic relations with the group and has closed its embassy in Kabul.
