Kokcha News Agency – Spain’s Prosecutor’s Office has broadened its investigation into Israel’s alleged international crimes in Gaza, including the attack on the Global Solidarity Flotilla. The investigation, launched on September 18, seeks to determine whether Israel’s actions in the Gaza Strip constitute serious violations of international human rights and humanitarian law under Articles 607 and subsequent provisions of Spain’s Penal Code.
In a written statement, the Prosecutor’s Office explained that the investigation aims to preserve evidence of potential international human rights violations by the Israeli military in Gaza and to cooperate with international courts and legal processes.
The statement added, “The investigation now includes the seizure of vessels from the Global Solidarity Flotilla heading to Gaza. To this end, information has been requested regarding the flag of the affected ships, the maritime coordinates of the intervention, the nationality of those traveling on the vessels, the nature of the shipment, its cargo, and the consular assistance provided to Spanish citizens.”
Meanwhile, Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares and Defense Minister Margarita Robles have called for the immediate release of the Global Solidarity Flotilla members detained by Israeli forces.
