Taliban Clash with Pakistani Border Guards in Kunar Border Region
Taliban fighters exchanged fire with Pakistani border guards in the Nari district of Kunar province on [Day of the week removed as it is after today's date]. Official sources in Pakistan told Afghanistan International that the exchange of fire "lasted less than an hour." Local residents said the two sides used light and heavy weapons in the clash.

Kokcha News Agency: The reason for the start of the conflict is not yet clear. In most cases, such tensions arise over the construction or reconstruction of border posts by the two sides. However, it is not yet clear which side initiated the firing.
A resident of Kunar province told Afghanistan International: “Two ambulances moved towards the center of Kunar province.” However, there is no information available on possible casualties from this clash.
Over the past four years, the Afghanistan-Pakistan border has been one of the most tense areas in the region. Since the Taliban came to power in Afghanistan, border clashes between the Taliban and Pakistani border forces have increased significantly.
14 Border Clashes in Three Months
The recent quarterly report of the UN Secretary-General on Afghanistan shows that from [Date removed as it is after today’s date] to [Date removed as it is after today’s date], there were 14 clashes between Taliban and Pakistani forces on the border between the two countries. These armed border clashes took place in the provinces of Khost, Kunar, Nangarhar, Helmand, and Paktika.
The report stated that as a result of a clash between the Taliban and Pakistani forces, about 50 families were displaced in Dishu district of Helmand province. The reason for the start of this conflict was the construction of a security post by the Taliban near the Bahramcheh crossing in Helmand.
The United Nations also said that during this period, 12 cases of drone patrols and two cases of jet flights were reported in the skies of Kandahar, Paktika, Gardez, Khost, and Paktia.
