White House Reacts to Trump Being Overlooked for Nobel Peace Prize
The White House has expressed strong disapproval over the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize not being awarded to US President Donald Trump, accusing the Nobel Committee of prioritizing "politics over peace."

White House Communications Director Steven Cheung took to the social media platform X to comment on the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize being awarded to Venezuelan politician Maria Corina Machado. Cheung emphasized that Trump would continue to broker peace deals and end wars, stating, “(Trump) has a humanitarian heart, and there will never be another like him with the will to move mountains.”
Cheung criticized the Nobel Committee, saying, “The Nobel Committee has proven that they prioritize politics over peace,” in reference to Trump not receiving the award.
The 2025 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Maria Corina Machado for her struggle to defend democratic rights in Venezuela.
Trump’s Nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize
Pakistan had nominated Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize for his “diplomatic role and leadership” during the recent crisis with India.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also nominated Trump for the prize, delivering the nomination letter to Trump personally.
Cambodia officially nominated Trump for his contribution to the ceasefire agreement that ended border clashes with Thailand.
Five African countries—Gabon, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mauritania, and Senegal—supported Trump’s nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize, citing his contributions to world peace.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan also considered nominating Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize for his contributions to regional peace.
Trump’s Special Representative, Steve Witkoff, stated during a cabinet meeting that he believed the US President deserved the Nobel Peace Prize, arguing that Trump had stopped seven wars to date.
