Maduro: Venezuela Has 5,000 Russian Missiles to Counter US
Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro announced that his country possesses 5,000 Russian-made anti-aircraft missiles to deter potential US military aggression in the Caribbean.
Kokcha News Agency – During a military ceremony, Maduro revealed that Venezuela has deployed 5,000 Russian Igla-S short-range surface-to-air missiles at key defense positions to “guarantee peace.” The US has accused Maduro of election fraud and ties to the “Cartel of the Suns,” alleging Venezuela facilitates drug trafficking.
In response, US President Donald Trump has mobilized a large military force—including missile-equipped destroyers, F-35 fighter jets, a nuclear submarine, and 6,500 troops—near Venezuela’s Caribbean coast. Recent US operations in the region have reportedly killed at least 32 people.
Maduro warned that Venezuela faces “the biggest threat our continent has seen in 100 years,” while Defense Minister Vladimir Padrino López accused Washington of waging an “undeclared war” by deploying warships near Venezuelan waters.
