Saudi Arabia’s current priority is a permanent Gaza ceasefire
Saudi Foreign Minister Prioritizes Permanent Gaza Ceasefire, Rules Out Normalization with Israel Without Palestinian Resolution
During a visit to Moscow on Friday, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud reiterated Saudi Arabia’s stance on the Gaza conflict, stating that the kingdom’s immediate focus is on securing a permanent ceasefire in the region.
When asked about the possibility of normalizing ties with Israel, Prince Faisal made it clear that such a move cannot happen without addressing the Palestinian issue. “What we are seeing is the Israelis are crushing Gaza, the civilian population of Gaza,” he said. “This is completely unnecessary, completely unacceptable and has to stop.”
The health ministry in Gaza reports that over 57,000 Palestinians have been killed in Israel’s assault on the region since the October 7 attack by Hamas, which Israel says killed 1,200 people and took more than 250 hostages.
