Iran’s Nuclear Safety Center Denies Use of Depleted Uranium in Israeli Attacks
Iran’s Nuclear Safety Center has refuted recent reports claiming the use of depleted uranium in Israeli attacks, stating no evidence of such material has been found.
Kokcha News Agency: Iran’s Nuclear Safety Center has denied recent reports suggesting the use of depleted uranium in Israeli attacks against the country. The center stated that no traces of depleted uranium have been detected in the aftermath of the attacks.
Depleted uranium is commonly used in armor-piercing projectiles fired by tanks or aircraft to enhance the penetrative power of munitions. Reports had emerged speculating that depleted uranium might have been used in Israel’s attacks on Iran.
Depleted uranium is a dense byproduct of uranium enrichment and is often used in munitions designed to penetrate heavy armor. When such munitions hit their target, they can create a cloud of metallic and radioactive particles, raising serious concerns about their impact on human health and the environment.
