Kokcha News Agency: Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan have held a meeting in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), to discuss the ongoing peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia. The meeting was announced by the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration, which stated that the talks are part of efforts to advance the peace negotiations following the Second Karabakh War.
Reports yesterday indicated that Aliyev and Pashinyan would meet today in Abu Dhabi to discuss peace agreements. The Azerbaijani Presidency confirmed the location of the meeting, emphasizing the importance of the talks in resolving long-standing tensions between the two nations.
Background on the Peace Process
After the Second Karabakh War, Azerbaijan and Armenia began peace negotiations at Baku’s initiative. In March 2025, the two sides reached a consensus on the text of a peace agreement. However, Azerbaijan has set conditions for the signing of the agreement, including amendments to the Armenian constitution, which it claims contains territorial claims against Azerbaijan, and the dissolution of the OSCE Minsk Group, which it considers outdated and ineffective.
