Kokcha News Agency – The Greek Union of Container Transport Workers (ENEDEP) organized a protest at Piraeus Port to prevent the loading of steel onto a ship bound for Israel, which they claim is intended for military purposes. In a statement released on social media, ENEDEP declared, “We will not stain our hands with blood, nor will we be accomplices or targets of retaliation.”
The union emphasized that port workers refuse to be complicit in the transport of military materials, stating, “Port workers will not be accomplices; we will not transport steel intended for military use. The final destination of the Cosco Shipping Pisces, loaded with military supplies, is Israel’s war industry.”
The statement also referenced Israel’s ongoing attacks on Gaza, noting, “This cargo will be used to continue the killing of civilians, the bombing of hospitals, schools, children, infants, and women.” ENEDEP revealed that the planned loading, initially scheduled for this morning, has been postponed to Wednesday due to the intervention of the responsible company. The union has called for further protests on Wednesday evening when the loading is expected to take place.
