Israel Promises to Halt Attacks on Southern Syria
Israel has reportedly agreed to stop its attacks on Syrian government forces in southern Syria, following a request from the United States.

Kokcha News Agency reports: Israel has reportedly promised to cease its attacks on Syrian government forces in southern Syria starting this evening, according to a report by Israel’s Channel 12 television.
The report, citing a US source, states that the United States requested Israel to stop its attacks on southern Syria, to which Israel responded positively.
However, Haaretz, citing an Israeli security source, reported that Israel remains prepared to intensify attacks on Syria if necessary, despite the apparent calming of clashes in Sweida.
This development comes in the wake of recent events in Sweida, where clashes between Druze groups and Bedouin Arab tribes escalated, resulting in numerous casualties and hostage situations.
The conflict in Sweida began on July 13 and led to the deployment of Syrian Defense and Interior Ministry forces to quell the violence.
Subsequent attacks on these forces resulted in military casualties and hostages. Israel’s involvement escalated when Defense Minister Yisrael Katz declared Israel’s intention to protect the Druze population, leading to several Israeli airstrikes near Syrian military convoys.
Syrian Defense Minister Major General Merhef Abu Kasra recently announced a ceasefire in Sweida. Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has threatened to expand attacks on Syria, depending on the Damascus government’s actions.
